Photography Workshop with Meg McKinney: Early Morning Light and Metals

May 29, 2021 @ 6:00 am - 2:00 pm

| $250

Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark, founded in 1880, holds a unique place in America’s history, as a Southern constructed, blast furnace in a newly-created city. Immerse yourself in the nation’s only 20th century industrial museum, located in Birmingham, Alabama, with your camera and your imagination. Walk among the steel behemoths and work yards, now silent, and photograph a world that was actively producing 25% of our nation’s iron, a century ago. Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark is offering a unique opportunity for photographers with this 1-day workshop taught by Meg McKinney, a professional photojournalist.

Early Morning Light and Metals – See Sloss Furnaces in early sun light, while photographing the light with spring time ambience. Following a mid-morning brunch, concentrate on the metals needed to build and operate Sloss Furnaces.

Required: Participants are required to photograph with a DSLR camera, able to walk on uneven ground, carry their own photography equipment, walk up and down stairs. A tripod, a variety of lenses, and laptop for downloading images, are recommended.
