NCCCIAP Public Performance: Art Exhibition

April 7, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

| Free

During the National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art & Practices there will be several public performances and you’re invited!

Cast iron has an immense range in its historical and creative background; we are impressed by the scope in which the medium continues to grow in process, aesthetic, and concept. This year’s conference will host a significant array of cast iron and related artwork from over 140 artists. These exhibitions prove to be an excellent sampling of the contemporary cast iron community. Our show schedule has expanded to one on-site and three off-site exhibition spaces that will be incorporated into a Friday night ArtWalk.

PROFESSIONAL EXHIBITION

Visitor’s Center Gallery
Sloss Furnaces

The large gallery in the Visitor’s Center features significant works by professional artists from the expanding cast iron art community. This massive show is curated by Exhibitions Co-Chairs Laura Mullen and Jake Weigel.

JURIED EXHIBITION

Project Space Gallery
University of Alabama Birmingham

This show features the work of 15 artists as juried by Wassan Al-Khudhairi, the Hugh Kaul Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Birmingham Art Museum in Birmingham, AL.

STUDENT EXHIBITION

Space One Eleven

The next generation of cast iron artists will be celebrated in an exhibition held at Space One Eleven, a non-profit gallery located in downtown Birmingham. This show is also curated by Exhibitions Co-Chairs Laura Mullen and Jake Weigel.

STEERING COMMITTEE EXHIBITION

Trim Tab Brewery

When not planning the conference, the people behind the scenes make art too! Grab a beer and take in the work by the 16-member steering committee to round out the night.

The ArtWalk exhibition will begin at Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark. Please visit the website for more information on this event, and the National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art & Practices.
