Take a self-guided or docent lead tour of Sloss Furnaces. Start with a ten minute video that gives visitors information on the history of Sloss and Birmingham. The tour takes you to the furnace, the underground railroad tunnel, and the blowing engine building. This is an unbelievable experience. See enormous machinery and equipment that was used at Sloss Furnaces until 1971. Hear about what it was like to work at a blast furnace. The tour lasts approximately 1 hour.

Self-guided tours  and cell phone tours available Tuesday-Sunday and do not require a reservation.

Saturday and Sunday guided tours usually available free of charge at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. We strongly suggest that you call ahead for availability. Please call 205.324.1911.

Please call 2 weeks in advance to make reservations for a guided tour to be conducted during the week (groups of 10-150). Guided tour fees: $2 per person (weekdays only)

Note: Takes place outdoors. Wear appropriate shoes and be prepared to walk. In inclement weather please call Sloss Furnaces to reschedule. We will tour in light-medium showers.
