African American Labor Music in the Mills and Mines
This presentation will allow you to listen along to original music from the book, The Spirit of Steel. The lecture will include fascinating details about the ballads, songs and instrumentals, that were used in the mines and the mills to help uplift the spirits of the generations who labored to produce the nation's wealth.

African American Women of the Sloss Quarters
The African American Women of the Sloss Quarters presentation will focus on the traditions and customs mothers, wives and daughters of ex-sharecroppers brought with them to the urban industrial landscape of Sloss Furnaces and its company housing. |
